Was I Cruel?Okay, so last post I was very critical of the movie "Knowing", Nicholas Cage's Hairplugs and refusal to act, Creepy alien/angels who may have been child molesters, over-the-top special effects and Computer lab guys who forget real world objects have 'mass', gratuitous uses of the "Subtlety Stick", and, well, a whole host of things. I may even have implied it is the worst film ever made. And I've seen Howard the Duck, Strret Fighter and even the Double Dragon movie. At least they can excuse there cheesy efects based on the fact they made them last decade or more ago. But th question put to me was was this cruel or heavy handed? So on that basis I offer an apology, especially to Nicholas Cage's hair stylist. See, the seeds of some very good ideas existed in this movie, they were just never fully realised, and the whole cast has at some point shown they have acting chops, but that doesn't excuse Nicholas Cage resting on his laurels and coasting through a movie that largely, lives or dies based on his performance. Heck, I'd go so far as to call him box-office poison. perhaps him, Halle Berry and J-Lo should team up for a remake of Gigli? Was that cruel? But yeah, i'm trying to apologise for the heavy handedness, even if I would really love that 90 minutes of my live back. So, I think I'm just going to shut up instead of ranting more, anyway, till next time -K |
